A curated newsletter
Welcome to Issue 7 - I hope you enjoy it!
Good-time Charlie is an irregular newsletter containing items that I hope will be of interest you, our readers. It is based on eating, drink, music, fun stuff and well … good times!
Amazingly it is only a month since the last issue but great news for all Good-time Charlies has been announced! Outside, seated and table service only drinking from the 12th April is to be ‘permitted’– now that sounds like fun in England in April. But low, from the 17th of May a chap or chapess can enter a pub with a chum and get a beer – no doubt with more table service and mask wearing guff. It really makes one glad to be alive!
The Unacceptable Me gallery is updated with all new images on a daily basis so check it out regularly at https://www.unacceptable.me/gallery/ - you know it doesn’t make sense.
I Miss My Bar
Are you one of the many missing the pub? Missing the conviviality, the bon homie, the sound of the background music and noisy chatter? Then your problems are almost solved because there is a website that provides endless loops of sounds of chatter, drinks being served and of course the landlords awful selection of ‘suitable sounds’. Not quite as good as the real things – you have to bring your own beer
It will do – for now
3D Street Art
I never tire of interesting images and here are loads of them from the usual 3D ones on pavements right through to amazing sites on building.
Probably acceptable - eye candy
The 11 Worst Pubs in London
Using stats from TripAdvisor, James King has given us all a helping find and possibly avoid the 11 worst pubs in London according public opinion. Whilst I haven’t been to all of them, I have visited two, prior to reading this article:
The 3rd worst (The Beer House Bar and Kitchen, Victoria) which is indeed appalling.
The 5th worst (The Cornershop, Shoreditch) which I have to say was quite nice with friendly bar staff on a sunny day – though it was 4pm in the afternoon and we were the only people in there!
Better safe – than sorry
Here are a few recent images from Unacceptable Me, that should provide an alternative to acceptable eye candy.
Are you ready – to be disappointed yet again?
Well that wraps up Issue 7, but something to local forward next up is a Travel Special - around the rather closed pubs of Romford - until the next time … thank you for your support!
