Welcome to Issue 3 - I hope you enjoy it!
Good-time Charlie is an irregular newsletter containing items that I hope will be of interest you, our readers. It is based on eating, drink, music, fun stuff and well … good times!
Since the last issue, much has been happening with the launch of our INAPPROPRIATE.ME clothing brand – see below. Apart from that it is the same old, same old – so much so that I have the song Heaven by Talking Heads on repeat – the following lyrics really struck a chord with me. Good old David Byrne – for putting a cynical twist on Groundhog Day!
And when this day is over, it will start again
Will not be any different, will be exactly the same
It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
Could be so exciting, could be this much fun
Good-time Charlie

Keep in touch – from a distance
The Open House London event every year is when places that are usually kept under lock and key are opened to a ticket reserving public. This year it has been has been put online. Not surprised – I wouldn’t want a bunch of strangers wondering around Chateau Good-time just at the moment. However, for those really missing out they have produced card models of various famous building for you to make at home! There are 17 buildings including St Pauls Cathedral, Kew Gardens Palm House, Surbiton Station and Fulwell Cross Library in Barkingside – which, whilst I know it well, I hadn’t recognised its’ enormous architectural importance. I bought one – couldn’t resist, it sounds so much fun
Stay at Home – Be Busy
Never one to miss out on a crisis, Good-time Charlie has launched its’ own clothing brand and what better item to stock first than Face Masks. For the dapper Good-time Charlie in all of us, here is a range of practical, fun and … Inappropriate items of must have face furniture that you won’t want to miss!
Wear it – with pride
At the outset I mentioned David Byrne. Well, he has come to the rescue with a new website and newsletter focusing on altogether more satisfactory reading than the newspaper or news bulletins appearing with monotonous regularity on my smartish phone. Interesting stuff that is not all ‘more bad news’. Check out Reasons to Be Cheerful, with articles by a cast of well-meaning people trying to put a more positive slant on the world including, of course, David Byrne and everyone’s favourite thinking man – Brian Eno!
Be Cheerful – Now you have a reason
The Secret To Ordering Tapas is a 4 minute long film from Monocle Films, which explores the terminology, protocols and varieties to be taken on board when trying to make head or tail out of ordering these tasty pre prandial treats. They can be just a mouthful or a whole meal, eaten in one bar or across many – with a drink, naturally!
Eat – In style
Who doesn’t like Hot sauce when it comes to cheering up an otherwise languid dish made out of goodness knows what, that has been languishing in the fridge, freezer or canned goods larder? How To Make Hot Sauce is an excellent article on Hot Sauce from Mike at Chili Pepper Madness that discusses the types and origins of Hot Sauce plus a recipe for making your own.
Eat – Some Like It Hot
I hope you managed to make it this far through Issue 3 - thanks for reading! Also thanks for the positive comments to issues 1 and 2 - keep them coming!!
